Yi-heng Yang, pianist, is noted for “astonishing skill and vividness (New York Times)” and “absolute mastery (Boston Musical Intelligencer).” She has appeared with Apollo’s Fire, The Boston Early Music Festival, The New York Philharmonic Ensembles, Serenata of Santa Fe, Sunday Chatter, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Apple Hill, and the Utrecht Early Music Festival Fringe, and has recorded for numerous labels. Ms. Yang won first prize at the “Amsterdam Virtuosi” Festival 2011, The Juilliard School’s Mozart Piano Concerto Competition, and was soloist with The New Juilliard Ensemble, the York Symphony Orchestra of Toronto, and The Juilliard Orchestra. She holds a doctorate from the Juilliard School, studied with Robert McDonald, Julian Martin, and Veda Kaplinsky, and fortepiano in Amsterdam.
Ms. Yang has received grants from The Mustard Seed Foundation’s Harvey Fellowship, and The Dutch Ministry of Culture’s Huygens Award, and is on the piano faculty at The Juilliard School Evening Division and Pre-College.
