Dr. Michael White and his seven-piece Original Liberty Jazz Band celebrate the great jazz of New Orleans in this special concert, presented in partnership with Santa Fe Music Collective and Outpost Productions.

An accomplished and multi-faceted New Orleans-based clarinetist, Dr. Michael White is senior professor of music at Xavier University, as well as a bandleader, composer, musicologist, and jazz historian. Widely regarded as one of the leading authorities and culture-bearers of traditional New Orleans jazz music, White has performed in over two dozen countries, played on over 50 recordings, received countless awards, made multiple national television appearances, and guest directed several Lincoln Center jazz concerts and tributes.

White formed the Original Liberty Jazz Band in 1981 and the band continues to perform regularly in New Orleans. They have held weeklong annual residencies at The Village Vanguard in New York City for many years.
