Among the off-site projects featured in Unsettled Landscapes, DELIMITATIONS, by Marcos Ramírez ERRE and David Taylor, is a 2400 mile long site-specific installation that reframes the history of the border between Mexico and the United States. In the summer of 2014 the collaborative team traced the boundary as it existed in 1821. At that time, Mexico encompassed all of present day California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and portions of Colorado, Oklahoma, Kansas and Wyoming.
A border that was never surveyed, ERRE and Taylor placed 47 obelisks along the line to acknowledge its history as the settled border between the United States and Mexico for 27 years. The artists will recount their project in conversation and present images, video and maps generated during the month-long marathon expedition.
