My Life In Art: Lowery Stokes Sims with Jaune Quick-to-See Smith

Lowery Stokes Sims is a distinguished curator, art historian and educator, known for her expertise on the work of African, Latino, Native, and Asian American modern and contemporary artists. She is currently curator at the Museum of Art and Design, New York since 2007, and prior to that she was Executive Director and President of the Studio Museum in Harlem, and previously held several posts at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Jaune Quick-To-See-Smith (Salish member of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Nations) is a highly acclaimed artist and cultural worker whose work addresses tribal politics, human rights and environmental issues, and she serves as an activist and spokesperson for contemporary Native art. In addition to exhibiting her work internationally, she has taught, and curated numerous exhibitions of contemporary Native art. Her work is in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, The Museum of Modern Art, the Walker Art Center and The Victoria and Albert Museum London, among others.
