Ice Book Launch

Invitation from exhibiting artist Basia Irland

“In conjunction with SITE Santa Fe’s current exhibition, GOING WITH THE FLOW: ART, ACTIONS, AND WESTERN WATERS, please join us on Sunday, May 14, at 11:00 a.m., Camino Escondido, to help launch Ice Books, embedded with local seeds, into the Santa Fe River. We will be accompanied by students from the New Mexico School for the Arts who are creating small unfired river clay sculptures that will be placed into the water to dissolve and disperse the seeds.

Learn about the importance of plants to riparian zones. This is Mother’s Day, so bring your mom, and your water bottle so we can toast the river in celebration. Clarence Cruz, Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo, will offer a Tewa blessing.”

This event is free to attend, no RSVP required. The project will be documented and a video of the collaboration will be shared online.

Location: From East Alameda Street turn South on Delgado to cross the river and make your first left on the dirt road (also called East Alameda Street). After passing Camino Escondido, park along the side of the street and join us along the river. GET DIRECTIONS
