Friedrich Heinrich Kern, glass harmonicist for the 2017 Santa Fe Opera Lucia di Lammermoor, presents his solo work at SITE Santa Fe as part of The Evolution of Silence Tour. See him in his only show in the United States as part of this tour. Combining ethereal and peaceful piano tunes with electronic sensibilities and drum machines, his solo work fluctuates between the poles of urbanity, classical discipline, and emotions. Kern’s work is dedicated to unfolding soundscapes and the state of suspense between dream and awakening. After years of composing for the New York contemporary classic scene, he translates his works using piano, glass harmonica, field recordings, and beat structures into his recent creations.
