PAST
15 AUG 2021
Performances
4pm (Doors open at 3:30pm)
This encore presentation of “Warning: Mezzo Ahead” — Cautionary Tales from Operas and Art Songs features two powerful mezzo monologues from Richard Wagner’s Der Ring des Nibelungen, as well as art songs and piano solo music written by Samuel Barber, Johannes Brahms, George Gershwin, Franz Liszt, Joseph Marx, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Franz Schubert, and Clara and Robert Schumann. The original performance, which took place on July 29, 2021 at the Quail Run Clubhouse, was dedicated to the memories of two long-time Santa Fe arts patrons, Edgar Daniels and Mara (Mrs. Charles) Robinson, who supported the Wagner Society of Santa Fe during its infancy.
Mezzo-soprano Katharine Goeldner appears courtesy of the Santa Fe Opera. She is singing Mme. Larina in Eugene Onegin this summer.
Carol Anderson plays the piano in the Santa Fe Opera orchestra for this summer’s world premiere production of The Lord of Cries.
The artists kindly ask that all attendees remain masked while at the event. Per the request of the Wagner Society, all attendees must be fully vaccinated. Katharine Goeldner and Carol Anderson appear with the generous permission of the Santa Fe Opera.
