A tasting and tour of coffee from the Americas and NuMu: Contemporary Art in Guatemala

$10 general admission/ $5 members, students

Sponsored by Ohori’s Coffee

A tasting and tour of coffee from the Americas with Tai Ayers from Ohori’s Coffee Roasters and NuMu (Nuevo Museo de Arte Contemporáneo), Contemporary Art in Guatemala presented by Stefan Benchoam and Jessica Kairé

Join us as Tai Ayers from Ohori’s coffee highlights flavor profiles and roast levels with a coffee tasting and discussion. We will look at the coffee flavor wheel and talk about regional differences in classic Americas coffees from Peru, Colombia, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Mexico, and Hawaiian.

Stefan Benchoam (via exclusive video footage), discusses Nuevo Museo de Arte Contemporáneo (NuMu), the first and only contemporary art museum in Guatemala dedicated exclusively to supporting, exhibiting, and documenting contemporary art. Founded in 2012, NuMu is an artist-run space, co- founded and directed by artists Jessica Kairé and Stefan Benchoam. In honor of NuMu and brunch, SITE will be serving egg dishes at this event.

About Tai Ayers

Born in Santa Fe, Tai got her first dose of coffee culture in the quintessential teen hang-out The Aztec Café. She worked at the plaza’s Haagen-Dazs at 15, graduated high school from Colorado Rocky Mountain School, and majored in Environmental Studies and English Lit from Middlebury (where she managed the student coffee house). After living in Vermont, NYC, Montana, New Zealand and Southeast Asia for most of her twenties, she returned to Santa Fe to help owners Pema and Larry Ayers managed Ohori’s Coffee. These days Ohori’s is owned by Tai and her husband Sam Brinegar. Her love of community, health and local products has help define Ohori’s in the last 10 years.
