Art Talks: Jaclyn Roessel

Curating Culture: Decolonization and Indigenous Representation in Museums

$10 general admission/ $5 members, students/ Free for members at the $125 level and above

Museums and Indigenous communities have long had contentious interactions and relationships. Roessel will share an examination of the tensions present within the museum field and how with further dedication to decolonized practices, inclusion and incorporation of Indigenous voices, museums can see a future with meaningful participation of Indigenous creative excellence like never before.

Jaclyn Roessel was born and raised on the Navajo Nation. Working in the museum field for over the past decade, Roessel confirmed her belief in the power of utilizing cultural learning as a tool to engage and build stronger Native communities.
