T. Minh-ha Trinh was born in Vietnam and lives in Berkeley, California. A filmmaker, teacher, writer, composer, and critic, she has received many awards and her work has been shown internationally to great acclaim. Her unusual cinematic approach to colonial attitudes, in films anout people's lives in West Africa, rural China, and Vietnam, simultaneously and urgently explores both the content of the worlds depicted and the form of "documentary" ethnography.
Her films include Reassemblages, Naked Spaces: Living Is Round, and Surname Viet Given Name Nam; and she is the author of several books, including Woman, Native, Other and When the Moon Waxes Red.
