John Currin

Year born:

1962

Location:

Boulder, CO

John Currin’s oil paintings confront political correctness. Men and women with exaggerated features, vacuous faces, and distorted bodies both repel and attract. Diego Velázquez, Lucas Cranach the Elder, and Jean-Honoré Fragonard, along with contemporary magazine advertisements, have been inspirations for Currin’s work.
