Jeff Wall

Year born:

1946

Location:

Vancouver, British Columbia

Jeff Wall’s oeuvre employs backlit photographic transparencies mounted on light boxes. Set in cases generally associated with advertising display, Wall’s staged scenes comment on aspects of everyday modern life, with a focus on social disintegration and alienation. Wall uses actors on location as well as computer manipulation to construct these elaborate scenarios.
