Francis Alÿs was born in Antwerp and studied architecture in Tournai (Belgium) and at the Istitúto di Architettúra di Venèzia; he currently lives in Mexico City where he collaborates with local artisans. A painter and sculptor, he has exhibited in the Fifth Havana Bienal and throughout the Americas.
