Born on the island of Dominica in the British West Indies, Catherine Lord lives in Los Angeles and writes and lectures on cultural (especially queer) politics, photography, film and video. She is a Professor of Art and Women's Studies, Chair of the Department of Studio Art, and Director of the Fine Arts Gallery at the University of California Institute of Arts. Her writings have been published in numerous magazines and journals, and her new book, The Queer in the Archive, examines the intersections between homosexuality and anthropology, and photography and heterosexuality.
