Adriana Bustos

Adriana Bustos’ work draws a connection between the gold trade and its distribution in routes in colonial America, and drug trafficking in the current transnational market. Recursos (Resources) and RRHH delve into the international production and consumption of drugs, exploring the roles of people and places involved in this age-old global enterprise. The “resources” are mainly natural—South America is represented as a vast territory of drug plantations and jungles harboring clandestine kitchens—but also human.

Unsettled Landscapes looked at the urgencies, political conditions and historical narratives that inform the work of contemporary artists across the Americas – from Nunavut to Tierra del Fuego. Through three themes – landscape, territory, and trade – this exhibition expresses the interconnections among representations of the land, movement across the land, and economies and resources derived from the land.
