In 2014, SHoP Architects was selected to design SITE’s building expansion and help us realize our visions for SITE Tomorrow.
SHoP has created a design for SITE that will provide elegant new spaces within our building and an iconic new form on the exterior of our building.
Inspired by patterns in Native American pottery and rugs, SHoP’s design for the exterior of SITE’s building is distinguished by metal cladding that unifies the existing building with our planned new spaces and introduces an innovative and distinctive form to the Railyard.
About SHoP Architects
A mid-sized firm based in New York City, SHoP Architects first gained wide attention in 2000 for their innovative courtyard structure called Dunescape at New York’s MoMA PS1. Since then, the firm’s commissions have included residences, commercial buildings, schools and cultural institutions, as well as large-scale master plans. The Barclays Center in Brooklyn, Google Headquarters in Silicon Valley, and the East River Waterfront in New York are just a few of their recent projects.
