Bradley McCallum & Jaqueline Tarry

Bradley McCallum and Jacqueline Tarry raise questions of race and social justice in the context of both history and contemporary society. They have been collaborating since 1998 on a wide variety of work that includes public installation projects, painting, photography, video, performance, and sculpture. A t SITE Santa Fe, McCallum & Tarry present three of their most intimate and poetic video-based works, as part of the exhibition suite One on One. SITE’s Thaw Curatorial Fellow, Janet Dees, will interview the couple. The discussion will include a variety of topics related to their practice including how the works in One on One fit into their larger oeuvre and the process of working collaboratively.

The work of McCallum & Tarry was featured in the 2008 Prospect 1 Biennial, New Orleans. They have exhibited at and produced projects in collaboration with several institutions including the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art, Artspace, New Haven, and the Bronx Museum of Art. A mid-career retrospective of their work will open at the Contemporary Museum, Baltimore in May 2010. Janet Dees is the Thaw Curatorial Fellow at SITE Santa Fe, and helped organize the exhibition One on One. Dees will be writing an essay for their forthcoming book, which will accompany their exhibition at the Contemporary Museum, Baltimore.
