Semantics; The Words Of Art: SITE Santa Fe Young Curators Exhibition
Feb 24, 2006 At The Santa Fe Museum of Fine Arts
Semantics: The Words of Art explores the long dialogue between language and visual art as a form of personal expression. Semantics is not only the study of meaning in language, but also the relationship between signs and symbols and what they denote. Language and visual art have always had a close relationship, as words create both mental and visual pictures. The artwork that young people have created for this exhibition examines and reflects the mutual influence of one on the other. Featuring artists such as Sandy Edwards, Emily Esperanza, Kelsey Grodner, Kevin Knupp, Rebecca Leopold, Lauren Peterson, Cole Petrulis, Lia Sanchez, and Corinna Strever.
